Installation
Locate the receiver in the room where direct light does
not strike the screen. Total darkness or a reflection on

2. Read through the instruction booklet and familiarise
yourself with the operation of the product.
3. Connect the antenna lead to the aerial terminal
located on the back panel of the television set and
the other end to the aerial wall socket in your home.
If using an indoor antenna, plug this directly into
the aerial terminal located on the back panel of the
television (refer page 7, ‘Back Connections’).

4. Connect your Magnavox Colour Television to the power
outlet and switch on television.
5. Tune your Magnavox television (refer to ‘Tuning Your
TV’ for further instructions).
Note: This function will automatically store the TV
channels from 0 position in numerical sequence. If you
wish to see the correct stations on the corresponding
channels see page 10.
To carry out any further tuning or fine tuning, please refer
to page 10 and 11.

To Prepare Remote Control Handset
Notes about using handset:
Battery Installation
1. When the handset will not be used for a long period of
time or when the batteries are discharged, remove the
batteries to prevent leakage.
The remote control unit uses two AA batteries. For battery
installation and replacement, read the following.
1. Turn the remote control unit upside down. Press down
on the grip of the battery compartment and slide the
cover in the direction of the arrow.
2. Do not drop, dampen or disassemble the remote.
3. The effective range of remote control is suggested in
the figure below.
2. Install two new batteries making sure that the
polarity matches with the (+) and (-) marks inside the
compartment (damage may result if reversed).

Tuning Procedure
MENU 1 -
A. Press [MENU 1] key continuously, menu screen will
appear as follows:
B. Press [P+] [P-] key, cursor up or down.
Press [V+] [V-] key, change value for selection .
Note:
Tint only for NTSC system.
Auto Search Function
Automatic Search and Memory (ASM) for program
installation from Antenna input. The TV will search through
the whole channel coverage and store all programs being
transmitted, in sequential order.
A. Press [MENU 1] key repeatedly to select “PRESET”
B. Press [P+] or [P-] key, to select “ASM”
C. Press [V+] or [V-] key, to start ASM.and memorize into
program list (0-255).
D. Wait until the process is completed.
On remote control, press [MENU] key on front panel and
hold for three seconds, TV set will enter “ASM” mode.
Search Function
Manual Search for Antenna input.
A. Press [MENU 1] key repeatedly to select “PRESET”
B. Using [P+] or [P-] key, select “PROGRAM”.
Using [V+] or [V-] keys to change Program Number.
C. Press [P+] or [P-] key to select “BAND”. Press [V+] or
[V-] key to change BAND.
D. Press [P+] or [P-] key to select “SEARCH”.
Press [V+] or [V-] key to enter SEARCH screen.
Press [V+] or [V-] key to start SEARCH.
E. The SEARCH function will locate channels in
sequential order and will halt when a channel is found.
Should this not be the channel you are seeking, press
the [V+] button again to recommence search.
Band: You can select V-L, V-H or UHF.
Channel 2 = V-L, Channels 7,9 & 10 = V-H,
Channel SBS = UHF.
F. Wait until the process is completed.

Tuning Procedure
Fine
FUNCTION: Fine Tuning for current setting. May be used
to tune weak stations.
A. Press [MENU 1] key repeatedly to select “PRESET”.
B. Using [P+] or [P-] key, select “PROGRAM.”. Using [V+]
or [V-] change Program Number.
C. Using [P+] or [P-] key, select “FINE TUNE”.
D. Using [V+] or [V-] key, adjust for best tuning.
Skip
FUNCTION: Use to “SKIP” Channels. After setting to “ON”,
the channel will not be selected by Channel Up/Down keys.
For example, if you decide to turn “SKIP” on when you are
on PROGRAM 028, this position will be skipped when you
use the [P+]/[P-] buttons.
A. Press [MENU 1] key repeatedly to select ‘PRESET’.
B. Using [P+] or [P-] key, select “PROGRAM”,
Using [V+] or [V-] key, change POSITION.
C. Using [P+] or [P-] key, select “SKIP”.
Using [V+] or [V-] key, select “ON” or “OFF”.

Normal Operation
1. Power ON /OFF
Firstly, the power supply of the unit must be switched at
the power switch on the television set. This status is called
Stand-By mode. While in standby mode, the TV can be
turned on/off via the remote control by pressing the ON/
OFF button or alternatively the [P+]/[P-] keys on the TV set.
2. Channel Up/Down
Press [P+] key, to change Channel Up Press [P-] key, to
change Channel Down.
3. Direct Access Tuning
Using the numeric keys on the remote control, channels
can be selected directly, for 10 to 255 channels.
Or repeatedly press the “-/--” button, to select the desired
mode then press numeric buttons.

Press [V+] key, for Volume Up

5. Mute
By pressing this key, sound output will be muted. Press
[MUTE] again, or [V+]/[V-], sound Volume will return.
6. TV/AV
You can select your video source by pressing on [TV/AV] key.
For example, to watch a DVD or video, you will need to be in
AV mode after the DVD player or video player is connected
and set up.
AV1 - signal comes from the rear inputs
AV2 - signal comes from the side inputs
S-VHS - signal will appear when an S-Video cable is being
used in conjunction with audio/visual equipment.
NB: this is optional and audio cabling must also be used.
7. Quick View
(Figure 2)
TV MODE Channel will go back to the previous channel
being watched (Figure 1).

8. Scan
By pushing this key, channels will be changed
automatically.
Each channel will be previewed for 3 seconds, and stop at
original channel. Skipped channels will not be previewed.

to remove the on screen display or it will turn off

Press [SLEEP] repeatedly. Sleep time will count up as

appears.
To set sleep mode, select time. The TV will go into
standby mode after the time selected has lapsed.
11. Picture Effect
By repeatedly pressing this key, picture effects will change
as follows:
: TINT setting is not included unless NTSC signal
received.
: PERSONAL is the last setting made by you.
12. Zoom - changes the way your picture appears on
the TV screen.
Press [ZOOM] key, to change as follows:

Press [MENU 2] key, “MENU 2” will appear.
Press the key again, “MENU 2” will disappear.
Use the [P+]/[P-] keys to select from the following:
PIC.ENHANCE / SWAP PROG / BIO RHYTHM / CALENDAR.
Using [V+]/[V-] key enter item.
13.1. Pic Enhance
Using [P+]/[P-] key select the item,
Using [V+]/[V-] key change on or off.
Using [MENU 2] key exit.
FAV. COLOUR will change as follows:

A. Using [P+]/[P-] key select:
“PROGRAM A” or “PROGRAM B”.
B. Using [V+]/[V-] key setting PROGRAM A or PROGRAM B.
C. Using [P+]/[P-] key select “EXCHANGE’,
D. Press [V+]/[V-] key, OK is displayed and the channel is
copied to its new location.
E. Press [MENU 2] key to exit.
13.3. Bio Rhythm
This is a fun screen that tells you what your level
of wisdom, strength and feeling is on any particular day.
NB: This is not based on any scientific information.
A. Using [V+]/[V-] key select year, month, day.
Using [P+][P -] key will change date.
B. “STRENGTH”,”WISDOM” and ‘FEELING” will be
changed.
C. Test date [T DAY] must be before B DAY.
D. Press [MENU 2] key to exit.
13.4. Calendar
A. Using [V+]/[V-] key select year, month, day.
B. Use [P+]/[P-] keys to change the value of the item.
C. Press [MENU 2] key to exit.

A. By pressing the
key, “LOCK MENU” will appear.
B. Input code and may be selected other item.
If “GENERAL LOCK” is on, other items will be effected.
C. Using [P+] or [P-] key, select “PROGRAM”.

Using [V+] or [V-] to change Program Number.
E. When “CHILD LOCK” is set ON, the picture will
disappear. It will show ‘PRESET”,”SETUP’ back display.
This is the background you have set up previously. At
this time, the channel is locked.
F. When you wish to change password, select ‘NEW
PASSWORD” with [P+]/[P-].
The code is set to 1 1 1 1 in factory.
15. Game - the aim of the game is to move the blue
boxes to cover the green dots.
A. By pressing the [GAME] key, game will appear.
B. Using [P+]/[P-] key to move up/down.
C. Using [V+]/[V-] key to move right/left.
D. Using [TV/AV] key, game will be again.
E. Using [PP] key, select step.
F. Using [MENU 2] key, exit.

Picture Menu
Function: Brightness, Contrast, Colour Sharpness, Tint.
A. Press [MENU] key on TV set or press [MENU 1] key
on remote control, MENU appears on screen. Select
“PICTURE”.
B. Select each function using the [P+]/[P-] keys.
C. Each value can be controlled by the [V+]/[V-] keys.
D. Repeat any functions if required.
Note:
TINT control will be appeared only if a NTSC
signal is being received.
Setup
NB: altering the blue back will change settings on all
positions.
A. Press [MENU] key on front or press [MENU 1] key on remote
control, MENU appears on screen. Select “SETUP”.
1). B/B: blue back to ON or OFF. Altering the blue back
will change this setting on all positions.
2). C-SYS: colour system to AUTO/PAL/NTSC 3.58/NTSC
4.43. Recommended setting is AUTO.
3). S-SYS: sound system to BG.
Recommended setting is BG.
4). LANG: language to ENGLISH / FRENCH / ARABIAN /
RUSSIAN.

Clock Function
Time and Timer setting.
A. Press [MENU] key on front or press [MENU 1] key
on remote control, MENU appears on screen. Select
“CLOCK”.
B. TIME (TIME, TIMER, OFF-TIME, ON-TIME) setting:
Using the [V -] key, hours will increase from “0, 1...
23,24”.
Using the [V+] key, minutes will increase from “00” to “59”.
C. TIME: Using the [V+][V -] key, will change “TIME”.
D. TIMER - Generally, if “ON-TIME” or “ OFF-TIME” is not
set, “TIMER” will not be set. In order to activate the
timer, OFF-TIME and ON-TIME must be programmed
and TIMER must be set to ON.
Using [P+][P-) keys, select “TIMER”. Using [V+]/[V-]
keys, Timer function can be activated.
E. PROGRAM - Using [P+]/[P-] keys, select “PROGRAM”.
Using [V+]/[V-] keys, will change program no. for ON-
TIME.
F. For ALARM setting, using [V+]/[V-] key to set the time .
1, 2, 3, 5, 10, 20, 30, 60, 90 up to 120 minutes.
Note: The
icon appears on screen . Press any key,
icon will disappear.
Picture Adjustment
Function: BRIGHT, CONTRAST, COLOUR, SHARP and TINT
adjustment.
A. Press [PIC] key continuously, functions as follows:
B. Each value can be controlled by [V+]/[V-] key.
Note:
TINT control will be appeared only if a NTSC
signal is being received.

Troubleshooting
Before calling the service personnel, please check the list below to fix some simple problems not caused by the unit itself.

Be sure the power cord is plugged in.
The sound volume is adjusted to the lowest level.
May need to adjust the contrast, colour and tint.

electric trains, high tension lines, neon signs, hair dryers
etc.
Lines on screen
May be radio interference from nearby TV receivers,
personal computers, TV games or radio stations.
Double/triple image
May be due to broadcast waves reflected from nearby
mountains and high buildings.
Check if the direction of the aerial has been deflected
because of strong wind, etc.
Snowy picture
The aerial lead-in may be broken or disconnected.
Check if the direction of aerial has been deflected because
of strong wind, etc.
Reduction in operating distance
Remote control does not work
Clean indicator window.
The batteries may be old or flat.
The batteries may be improperly installed.
